It's the slow season in terms of new gaming news here. So instead of trying to stretch out a bunch of news posts, you guys are going to get a healthy dose of newsbits. What used to be a near weekly event has apparently turned into a bi-yearly event around here. Well, consider this your late Christmas present, or some weird early New Year's gift.

CEVO is going to get two mentions in tonight's news post. First up, CEVO CS: Source Season III sign-ups have just begun. The third season promises total prize winnings of $8,750 in cash. Registration is open until January 5th. Further details can be found by using either of the previous two links.

Second up is the announcement that Season 5 of CEVO's Counter Strike 1.6 league also opened its doors to new registrations. Their 1.6 tournament is offering up nearly $36,000 in cash and prizes throughout the tournament. Registration is $15 per player and registration will remain open until January 5th.

United 5 Gaming recently took a look at the changing gameplay style of competitive gaming. The CPL is the main focus of the article after their change from double elimination to group play, and the issues that arose with such a change.

Bandwidth Exchange 2007, sponsored by Warfactory, is approaching fast (and furiously, har har har). The event is being held January 13-14 in St. Louis, MO. There will be a number of tournaments being held, including a $5,000 Counter-Strike tournament. For more information, be sure and read their FAQ and their event page.

NoSide Productions have been busy little beavers lately, and to show for all their hard word is their latest creation, Reloaded. It is a 13 minute broadcast centering around the 2006 ESWC Season Champions. There are a number of various video sizes ranging from small (50MB) to a lovely 1080p (1.04GB) mammoth size. Happy downloading.

Like making Counter-Strike based movies? Then you may want to head on over to Creative Movies to scope out their latest contest. The contest deadline is February 7, 2007. So if you want to try your hand at a cool $2,000 in winnings, look no further.

And finally tonight, we have something for those who just can't get enough Counter-Strike, but don't actually want to play the game (how does that work anyway?). Invalid Mob is on a quest to compile every flash based Counter-Strike game out there. They are already up to a cool 13 games already, all ripe for the playing if you are so inclined. That's it! This is the end of the newsbits. We can all breath a little sigh of relief now.
